The New Balance 5740 is the answer to a simple but astronomically big question. What if we updated the New Balance shoe of all time: the 574? Despite its modest and almost effortless versatility, the design of the original 574 was unique for its time: a hybrid design for the road and the racetrack that had no visible technical features. The 5740 model approaches the hybrid concept, has a few years left for design development and creates a new perspective on an iconic design. An overall slimmer silhouette with a narrower shape is combined with a range of exaggerated details. The unique midsole combines a flared version of the classic 574 construction with 90s inspired detailing, while the strap and eyelet strip feature the typical wavy embellishments of the 80s.
